Due to the personal origin and candid nature of the video material, a strong reminiscent mood is attached to the video content. Home movie material often depicts an idealised version of a family because of its highly selected, private and therefore „censored“ documentation of events. Through abstraction and recombination an ominous atmosphere is created in Krezverreutsel (wordplay for crossword) which contrasts the originally harmonious video material. The playful non-verbal collage emulates a glance back into the childhood. The short’s driving rhythm imitates a feeling of childish fear and loss of control which paints a picture of an infantile nightmare.
